Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

interior designer FAQs

An interior designer helps you create a space that looks beautiful, works practically for everyday life, and reflects your style. This can include layout planning, colour schemes, furniture selection, lighting, storage ideas, and pulling the whole look together so the finished result feels considered and cohesive.

I can definitely work on one room at a time. Some clients want to spread the workload so that it doesn’t impact their life too much.

Also some clients only have one space to renovate so I would work with them on this room only.

No, I also offer basic Design ideas for your garden spaces too, including the hard landscaping, garden rooms and outdoor entertaining spaces.

I can also give Design ideas for the exterior of your home, including render, cladding, windows and door ideas.

Yes I do supply the furniture, lighting and all accessories that are within the scheme. I have great contacts with trade suppliers that I have built up over the years. I can also offer the supply of furniture only, without the Design process, if you are just looking at replacing some items in your home.

Yes I am very lucky to have my husband as my builder. He has a great team of contractors whom work with him on my projects, including builders, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and landscape gardeners.

I am also very happy to work with your own contractors if you have someone reliable that you would prefer to use.

I cover the whole of the Essex area and outer London, some parts of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Yes, I have a good architect whom I work with on my projects. She can guide you through the process of Permitted Development and Planning applications.

I am very experienced with architectural drawings and can assist with layouts and the flow of the spaces before work commences, to avoid costly mistakes.

Yes, you do not need to complete a full Design scheme. I offer a two hour consultation which can be used to discuss your needs, including colours, wall coverings and general layouts of furniture.

Yes, I can liaise with your contractors or my own team of builders to complete the project, from digging the foundations to placing the last piece of artwork.

Yes I Design Commercial properties too. They require more regulations to adhere to but the concept is the same.

Yes, I have staged several properties to help clients sell their homes. A fresh pair of eyes is always helpful to make a few simple changes required to freshen up your home.

It varies on the amount of work you require and how many clients I am working with at one time. However, once we have had the Consultation visit I can offer a timescale for your work and keep you regularly updated with the progress.

Not always. Permitted development rights can allow certain types of work to be carried out without full planning permission, but the rules depend on the type of property, the size of the project, and whether previous changes have already been made. It is always worth checking before you begin.

I can assist with the process and applications but gaining the correct Planning Permission before work starts is ultimately the clients responsibility.

Absolutely. I have a great team of Contractors whom have built many garden rooms for clients for their specific needs, whether it be a gym or home office. This could also include the surrounding decking or patio areas, including sunken hot tubs and dining areas for socialising.
